Jammu/Kishtwar May 19, 2026: Continuing its efforts against illegal activities in the district, Marwah Police foiled an alleged bovine smuggling attempt and seized seven cattle during an operation conducted in the Nilsoo area of Marwah.
According to official information, Police Station Marwah registered FIR No. 03/2026 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act in connection with the case.
During the operation, police seized seven cattle from the possession of Shahid Hussain, son of Ghulam Hassan Wagay, a resident of Hyenan. The action was taken following police intervention against the alleged illegal transportation and smuggling of bovines in the area.
The seized cattle have been taken into custody at Nilsoo under jurisdiction of Police Station Marwah and further legal proceedings have been initiated. Police have also started further investigation into the matter to ascertain additional details related to the case.
The operation was led by SHO Marwah Lal Hussain and his team under the supervision of SDPO Marwah Ravinder Singh and overall supervision of SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh.
Police reiterated their commitment towards curbing unlawful activities and maintaining law and order in the district.
