Jammu, May 22: The Jammu & Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a disproportionate assets case against Ashiq Hussain Rather, presently posted as Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Hydraulic Sub-Division Chhatroo, District Kishtwar. According to ACB officials, a case under FIR No. 01/2026 under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 has been registered at ACB Police Station Doda against the accused officer. The action follows a verification conducted by ACB’s Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban wing into allegations that the officer was allegedly in possession of substantial movable and immovable assets, reportedly held in his own name as well as in the names of family members. These allegedly include a five-storey residential house on Court Road in Doda, land purchases at Udrana in Bhaderwah and Sunjawan Jammu, sizeable bank balances including fixed deposits, along with costly electronic items and jewellery. As per the agency, preliminary findings indicated that the assets allegedly acquired by the suspect appeared disproportionate to the income earned from known sources during his service tenure, leading investigators to suspect illicit enrichment. During the investigation, the ACB obtained search warrants from the competent court and carried out searches at the suspect’s residential and official/private premises located in Doda and Kishtwar, in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses. The bureau stated that further investigation into the matter is underway. The allegations are part of an ongoing investigation and have not been adjudicated by a court. The accused is entitled to due legal process.
