IGP Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi Given Additional Charge of J&K Armed Wing

Senior IPS officer Anand Jain relieved after appointment as DGP Ladakh; Birdi to head Armed Wing in addition to Kashmir Zone duties.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday assigned Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi the additional charge of the Armed Wing of Jammu and Kashmir following the transfer of senior IPS officer Anand Jain to Ladakh.

According to an order issued by the Police Headquarters, Anand Jain, who was serving as the Additional Director General of Police (Armed), has been relieved of his responsibilities in Jammu and Kashmir with effect from the night of June 22, 2026, after being appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP), Ladakh by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Until further orders, Vidhi Kumar Birdi will oversee the Armed Wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police while continuing to discharge his responsibilities as IGP Kashmir Zone.

The arrangement has been made with the approval of the Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, according to the order issued by DIG Personnel Mubassir Latifi.
