Jammu, May 19: A road rage incident has surfaced from the NH-44 Channi Bypass area of Jammu after a media crew alleged that a reckless motorcycle rider hit their vehicle while taking a dangerous wrong-side turn and later attempted to flee from the spot.
According to members of the media team, the biker suddenly emerged from the wrong side of the road and rammed into their vehicle, causing panic among the occupants. The crew claimed that when they stopped the rider and questioned him over the alleged rash and wrong turn, he became aggressive and started using abusive language.
The media personnel further alleged that the rider appeared to be not in sense and continued his aggressive behaviour despite female staff members being present inside the vehicle. They also claimed that the motorcycle was moving without any visible registration number plate, raising concerns over road safety and traffic enforcement on one of Jammu’s busy highway stretches.
The entire incident was reportedly captured on video and later shared on social media, where it quickly went viral and triggered public outrage. Several social media users called for immediate intervention by police and traffic authorities against reckless riding practices that allegedly put lives at risk on public roads.
Legal experts state that wrong-side driving, reckless riding, public misconduct, attempting to flee after causing an accident and operating a vehicle without a registration number plate can attract action under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), depending upon the findings of the investigation.
Citizens have urged the authorities to identify the biker through the viral footage and take appropriate legal action to prevent such incidents from recurring on highways and city roads.
