New Delhi/Jammu, June 9, 2026: Senior Congress leader and CWC member Vikar Rasool Wani on Tuesday met Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi and discussed the prevailing political situation in Jammu & Kashmir along with various organisational matters concerning the party in the Union Territory.
Sources said Vikar Rasool briefed the Congress President on key political developments in J&K and issues related to the functioning of the Congress organisation. The discussions also focused on strengthening the party and addressing the aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Describing the meeting as fruitful, Vikar Rasool appreciated Kharge’s guidance and commitment towards strengthening the Congress party and ensuring that the concerns of the people of J&K are effectively addressed.
The meeting assumes significance as it comes a day after a high-level review meeting of senior Congress leaders in New Delhi aimed at addressing factionalism and organisational issues within the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC). Political observers believe the back-to-back meetings reflect the Congress high command’s continued focus on Jammu & Kashmir and its efforts to reinforce organisational unity ahead of future political challenges.
