Kathua, May 5: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma on Monday flagged off a massive awareness rally from the Zila Sainik Welfare Office under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, marking a strong push to the ongoing anti-drug campaign in the district.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers, ex-servicemen, youth, students, members of civil society, and prominent citizens, reflecting a collective resolve to combat the menace of drug abuse. Participants marched through the town carrying banners and placards with awareness messages, while raising slogans promoting a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free lifestyle.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that the fight against drugs cannot be won by the administration alone and requires active cooperation from all sections of society. He stressed that grassroots awareness and community participation are essential for the success of the campaign.
He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and focus their energy on education, sports, innovation, and nation-building, encouraging them to become ambassadors of positive change in their communities. He also highlighted the importance of family support, social vigilance, and institutional coordination in strengthening the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.
The DC appreciated the active participation of ex-servicemen and civil society members, stating that such collective efforts send a strong message across society and support the administration’s mission to build a safe and healthy environment.
The rally concluded with participants taking a pledge to actively contribute towards building a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir and eliminating substance abuse from society.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vishavjeet Singh, District Social Welfare Officer Varun Choudhary, District Information Officer Kathua Rajinder Kumar Digra, ZSWO Col (Retd) Jagmeet Singh, and officials from the Zila Sainik Welfare Office were present on the occasion.
