Reasi, May 5: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Reasi, under the leadership of Chairman Khalil Choudhary (Principal District and Sessions Judge) and guidance of Secretary Pooja Gupta, organized a series of awareness programmes across the district to encourage maximum participation in the upcoming National Lok Adalat.
An awareness programme was held at LAC Chassana, where Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) from TLSC Mahore sensitized participants about the importance, benefits, and procedures of the National Lok Adalat. The public was informed that Lok Adalat serves as an effective platform for amicable settlement of disputes, ensuring speedy justice without heavy litigation costs.
Participants were also briefed about the types of cases that can be taken up, including matrimonial disputes, motor accident claims, bank recovery matters, and other civil cases. Emphasis was laid on key advantages such as finality of awards, no court fees, and reduction in case backlog.
Another awareness session on labour rights, legal aid, and access to justice was conducted at Panchayat Karua by Para Legal Volunteers of TLSC Katra. The participants were sensitized about labour laws, workers’ rights, minimum wages, and legal remedies in cases of exploitation or denial of rights. The importance of free legal aid services for economically weaker sections was also highlighted.
In addition, a door-to-door awareness campaign was carried out across various areas of the district to mobilize public participation in the Special Lok Adalat. PLVs directly interacted with households, explaining the benefits of Lok Adalats as a simple, speedy, and cost-effective mechanism for dispute resolution.
Pamphlets and informational material were also distributed among the public, highlighting the date and significance of the upcoming Special Lok Adalat.
