A woman constable of the Border Security Force (BSF) was found hanging inside her room at the force’s frontier headquarters in Jammu on Monday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Constable Bishnu Priya Roy, who was undergoing a three-month Lab Assistant Course that commenced on May 25. She was staying in accommodation provided at the Command Hospital within the BSF Frontier Headquarters in the Paloura area on the outskirts of Jammu.
According to officials, Roy was found hanging from a ceiling fan using a rope. She was immediately shifted to a hospital, where her body was sent for post-mortem examination.
The exact cause of death is yet to be determined. Police have initiated inquest proceedings and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
