At least 32 people have been killed and more than 700 injured after two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening, according to Acting President Rodriguez.

The twin earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, caused widespread destruction across several regions, with La Guaira state suffering the worst damage. Authorities said dozens of buildings collapsed, leaving many people trapped under the rubble.

Emergency teams and rescue workers are continuing search and rescue operations, while officials warned that the death toll could increase as crews reach more affected areas.

Describing the situation as a “true tragedy,” Rodriguez said La Guaira has effectively become a disaster zone, with efforts focused on saving as many lives as possible.
