Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Friday paid rich tributes to Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his companions on the occasion of Muharram, describing the sacrifice of Karbala as a timeless symbol of truth, justice, dignity, and resistance against oppression.
In her message, Mehbooba said the events of Karbala continue to inspire humanity and serve as a reminder that remaining silent in the face of injustice is a betrayal of moral values and conscience.
She said the spirit of Karbala continues to offer hope, resilience, and courage to people facing oppression across the world, encouraging them to stand firmly for truth and justice.
Referring to recent developments in West Asia, the PDP president said many people view Iran’s resolve during its recent conflict with the United States and Israel as reflecting the enduring spirit of Karbala.
Muharram, particularly its first ten days, commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala. The occasion is observed with religious gatherings, mourning processions, and prayers across Jammu and Kashmir and in many parts of the world.
