Relying on this assurance, the complainant paid ₹13 lakh. However, his son was not admitted to any medical college, and the money was not returned.

Following the complaint, the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch, Kashmir, conducted a detailed investigation. The inquiry revealed that Aquib Javeed, along with his brother Mohd Ahtesham Ahmad, allegedly cheated the complainant by falsely promising admission to KBN Medical College, Bijapur.

The investigation confirmed offences under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC. As a result, the charge sheet was submitted to the court in absentia, following proceedings under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code.(Agencies)
