Jammu, Feb 12: The Jammu Division of Northern Railway on Wednesday reached a major milestone by extending the special train running on the Budgam-Banihal route to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra rail section.
“To enhance passenger experience, a Vistadome coach has been added to the train, which mesmerized travelers on its first extended journey. The special train (04688/04687) ran successfully on its inaugural day, with over 600 passengers enjoying the ride,” said Raghvender Singh, Public Relations Inspector, Jammu Railway Division.
He added that both locals and tourists expressed gratitude to the Railways for this historic step, highlighting that the special train from Banihal to Katra provided them with improved connectivity and convenience.
Commenting on the train’s successful operation, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said, “This initiative, featuring the Vistadome coach, allows passengers to enjoy scenic natural views and promotes tourism in Kashmir. The first-day feedback from travelers has been overwhelmingly positive, making their journey even more memorable.”
Passengers were treated to breathtaking views of mountains, rivers, and tunnels from the glass roof and large transparent windows of the Vistadome coach. They also witnessed engineering marvels such as the world’s highest bridge over the Chenab River and the first cable-stayed Anji bridge. (Agencies)
