Srinagar, Feb 12: Stressing that the regularisation of daily wagers is a humanitarian concern, BJP MLA Sham Lal Sharma on Thursday said the government must honour its commitments and provide a clear roadmap to resolve their long-pending issues.
Speaking to reporters, Sharma emphasized that regularising daily wagers is not just a policy matter but a human issue. He recalled that the Chief Minister had acknowledged on the floor of the House that preparing a manifesto was a mistake and promised not to repeat it.
Sharma noted, however, that manifestos are prepared by every political party during elections as a sankalp patra—a document of commitment to the public. “A manifesto reflects promises made to the people, and those commitments must be respected,” he said.
He further added that, beyond the manifesto, the concerned minister had assured the clearance of pending wages for daily wagers and their eventual regularisation. “It was said that the process would be carried out in phases, but there is still no clear timeline or definitive answer,” Sharma said.
Expressing solidarity with daily wagers, he said they remain uncertain about their future. “We stand shoulder to shoulder with them and will continue to support their genuine demands,” he added. (Agencies)
