JAMMU, MAY 14: Commissioner Secretary School Education Ram Niwas Sharma on Wednesday visited the Vidya Samiksha Kendra to review the functioning of the integrated educational monitoring and governance system established under the School Education Department.
During the visit, the Commissioner Secretary took a comprehensive review of the real-time monitoring mechanisms being implemented through the VSK platform to improve governance, transparency and efficiency in the education sector across Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials and technical teams briefed him regarding various digital dashboards, data analytics tools and monitoring modules being utilized for tracking key educational indicators including student attendance, teacher attendance, infrastructure status, learning outcomes and implementation of schemes under Samagra Shiksha.
Ram Niwas Sharma reviewed the school attendance scenario across the Union Territory and assessed district-wise performance. He directed officers to ensure daily and timely attendance marking by all teachers and asked them to follow up with low-attendance schools.
The Project Director Samagra Shiksha and technical teams also briefed the Commissioner Secretary about digital initiatives including Shikshak Sahayak, DigiLearn, Smart Attendance, Study Buddy Chatbot and the recently launched J&K Sarvekshan ChatBot.
The Director Samagra Shiksha also showcased the Data Monitoring Framework, dashboard platform and CRM-driven tele-calling system established at the VSK.
Emphasizing the importance of technology-driven governance, Ram Niwas Sharma directed officers to ensure effective utilization of the platform for evidence-based decision making and timely grievance redressal. He stressed the need for data accuracy and regular updation, stating that Vidya Samiksha Kendra would play a key role in improving accountability and quality of education across schools in J&K.
The Commissioner Secretary appreciated the officials and staff for establishing a robust digital monitoring ecosystem and asked them to strengthen coordination with field functionaries for effective monitoring of educational initiatives and flagship programmes.
While reviewing the progress of low-performing districts, he instructed the technical team to ensure regular follow-up and suggested utilizing the entire manpower of the organization to improve outreach and engagement at the grassroots level.
Ram Niwas Sharma also directed the VSK team to submit district-wise performance data of all VSK Bots and instructed officials to convene a review meeting with Chief Education Officers regarding their performance. He cautioned that CEOs of low-performing districts would be held accountable.
Reviewing the J&K Sarvekshan initiative, the Commissioner Secretary directed the Samagra Shiksha team to create a dedicated WhatsApp group and ensure timely completion of surveys by all concerned officials.
While assessing the performance of the Parent Pulse Bot, he stressed improving outreach, responsiveness and parent engagement. He also reviewed the Shikshak Sahayak Chatbot and instructed the VSK team to further enhance digital tools available on the platform.
The Commissioner Secretary appreciated the outreach achieved by the chatbot, noting that over 50 percent of school teachers had registered their presence on the platform within the last two weeks.
Ram Niwas Sharma also visited two digital studios established at the VSK which support the J and K e-Pathshala TV Channel. He directed officials to involve teachers from across the Union Territory in creating interactive educational videos in Kashmiri, Urdu, Dogri, English and Hindi languages.
Project Director Samagra Shiksha Bhawani Rakwal and senior officers of the School Education Department and Samagra Shiksha were present during the visit.
