A Royal Air Force Hawk T2 training aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from RAF Valley on Anglesey, North Wales, on Wednesday. Both pilots ejected from the aircraft before it went down in the Pencarnisiog area, close to the airbase.
The two pilots were taken for medical treatment with injuries believed to be minor. North Wales Police said there were no reports of wider injuries or damage, while emergency services, including fire crews, ambulances and air-ambulance teams, responded at the scene.
The RAF confirmed that the aircraft was involved in an incident near Anglesey and said an investigation is underway. As a precaution, RAF Hawk T1 and T2 flying operations have been temporarily paused while the investigation continues.
RAF Valley is home to No. 4 Flying Training School, where RAF and Royal Navy pilots receive fast-jet training. The cause of the crash has not yet been established.
