According to an official statement, Pulwama Police received a written complaint on April 7 from Bilal Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Ratnipora, alleging that an unknown Alto car driver (bearing registration number JK01AB-2069) had forcibly picked up his 10-year-old daughter and her classmate while they were on their way to school.

Based on the complaint, an FIR No. 91/2025 under Section 137(2) of the BNS was registered at Police Station Pulwama, and an investigation was launched immediately.

However, during the course of the investigation, statements from the minor girls and their parents were recorded before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the court. The girls admitted that they had not been kidnapped but had voluntarily walked from Ratnipora to Nadoo in order to avoid attending school.

Further, CCTV footage from the area was reviewed, which clearly showed that no abduction had occurred and no vehicle had forcibly taken the girls.

“The statements of the girls and their parents, along with corroborating CCTV evidence, confirmed that the abduction claim was false and was made up to avoid going to school,” the police spokesperson said.

Authorities have urged parents and guardians to maintain open communication with children and encourage them to share their concerns, while also warning against filing false reports that could lead to unnecessary panic and misuse of law enforcement resources.
