BJP to Launch Nationwide ‘Waqf Reforms Awareness Campaign’ from April 20 to May 5

New Delhi, April 10, 2025:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the launch of a nationwide initiative titled the ‘Waqf Reforms Awareness Campaign’, scheduled to run from April 20 to May 5. The campaign aims to educate the Muslim community about the recent reforms to Waqf laws and counter what the party claims is misinformation propagated by the Congress and its allies.

To mark the beginning of the campaign, a workshop was held at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, where BJP National President JP Nadda addressed party members and leaders. In his speech, Nadda emphasized that the Waqf reforms are designed to ensure more transparent and effective utilization of Waqf properties, particularly to benefit underprivileged Muslims in sectors like education and healthcare.

He criticized the Congress and its allies for engaging in what he called “appeasement politics” and alleged that they have been misleading the Muslim community about the intent of the Waqf reforms. “BJP karyakartas will reach out to our Muslim brothers and sisters to expose the lies and bring forth the real purpose and benefits of the law,” Nadda said.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju also took part in the workshop and provided detailed insights into the reforms. The BJP had invited three to four representatives from each state, including each state’s Minority Morcha President, to participate in the training. These leaders have been instructed to hold similar workshops in their respective states to prepare district-level leaders for grassroots outreach.

The campaign is seen as part of the BJP’s broader strategy to strengthen its connect with the Muslim community, particularly ahead of upcoming assembly elections. The party plans to counter opposition narratives by disseminating factual information about the changes in Waqf laws and highlighting how the reforms are intended to empower and uplift the community.

Through this initiative, the BJP aims to ensure that accurate information about the Waqf reforms reaches the grassroots level, enabling every Muslim citizen to understand the advantages of the changes being implemented.
