The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday finalised the tentative programme for the two-day visit of its national president Nitin Nabin to Jammu on July 6 and 7, while also reviewing preparations for the concluding ceremony of the fortnight-long Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee Smriti Pakhwada.
The decisions were taken during separate meetings of the BJP Core Committee and office bearers held at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. The meetings also reviewed ongoing organisational activities and finalised the roadmap for upcoming party programmes.
J&K BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma chaired the meetings, which were attended by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma and Ghulam Ali Khatana, along with several senior party leaders and office bearers.
During the meeting, Sat Sharma emphasised the successful implementation of all organisational programmes and highlighted the importance of observing the birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee on July 6. He also informed party leaders that Nitin Nabin would address party workers, public conventions and organisational meetings during his visit.
Ashok Koul urged party leaders to strengthen the organisation by conducting regular meetings from the district to booth level. He also stressed the need to organise seminars on the life and contributions of Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, carry out plantation drives during the monsoon season and encourage participation in the party’s digital learning programme.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted the developmental initiatives undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He said the Union Territory has witnessed significant progress in infrastructure, development and public welfare following the abrogation of Article 370.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of organisational programmes at district, mandal and Shakti Kendra levels, besides discussing the successful conduct of the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme and activities marking 12 years of the Modi government.
On the occasion, a book documenting major developmental projects undertaken in the Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Parliamentary Constituency represented by Dr Jitendra Singh was also released.
