Jammu, Mar 27: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi on Friday urged the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to pass a resolution condemning the alleged US-Israel aggression against Iran, saying it would reflect the sentiments of the people of the region.
Speaking to the Kashmir News Service outside the Assembly, the Budgam MLA said the hearts of Kashmiris were deeply hurt and drew a parallel with the martyrdom of Imam Khamenei.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir are deeply wounded, much like the anguish felt over the martyrdom of Imam Khamenei. We will try to find ways to heal these wounded hearts,” he said.
Mehdi stressed the need for a formal resolution, stating that his remarks represented public concern.
“We want a resolution to be passed so that the emotions of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are reflected. We also want to send a message that the people here stand against American and Israeli aggression,” he said.
The legislator added that they would raise their voice at every forum, maintaining that opposing what he described as a “bully-based world order” was a matter of justice and humanity.
“When someone is in trouble, we stand by them. Iran is in the hearts of Kashmiris, and Kashmiris are in the hearts of Iranians. We want to send a message that they are not alone in this difficult time,” Mehdi added. (Agency)
