Jammu: Financial institutions have provided loans worth Rs 14.71 crore to artisans and weavers during the first and second quarters of the current financial year, providing financial support to people engaged in traditional crafts and handloom activities.
The credit assistance is aimed at strengthening the financial capacity of artisans and weavers, helping them expand their businesses, purchase raw materials, upgrade equipment and improve their overall livelihoods.
The initiative is expected to encourage entrepreneurship among traditional craft workers and support the preservation and growth of the region’s handicraft and handloom sector. Increased access to institutional finance can also help artisans enhance production and explore wider markets for their products.
The loan disbursement during the first two quarters highlights continued efforts to improve access to formal credit for artisans and weavers and promote sustainable economic opportunities in the sector.
