LG Manoj Sinha Stresses Cultural Heritage Preservation at J&K Cultural Festival

Jammu, Mar 25: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday emphasized the importance of preserving, protecting, and promoting Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage while addressing the J&K Cultural Festival at Baba Jitto Auditorium, SKUAST Jammu. The event was organized by the Kailakh Jyotish & Vedic Sansthan Trust and was attended by Acharya Mahamandleshwar Swami Kailashanand Giri Ji Maharaj.

In his speech, the LG highlighted the need to bridge generations in safeguarding cultural traditions and ancient wisdom. “It is imperative that we explore various ways to raise awareness about our heritage and its significance in today’s society,” he said.

Commending the efforts of Shri Kailakh Jyotish & Vedic Sansthan Trust, the LG acknowledged the Trust’s role in promoting linguistic and cultural values in J&K. He called upon organizations and individuals to actively participate in preserving India’s age-old traditions, which he said contribute to a harmonious and enlightened society.

Preserving India’s Legacy
“Our ancient civilization has made profound contributions to humanity, shaping the idea of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’—the world is one family,” the LG noted.

He urged youth, religious organizations, and civil society members to focus on preserving Natural, Cultural, and Living Heritage, adopting a multidisciplinary approach to safeguard folk arts, traditional crafts, and ancient knowledge systems.

The LG emphasized the critical role of scientists, artists, and spiritual leaders in realizing the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) and stressed the importance of sustainable living in raising awareness about environmental responsibility.

Key Highlights of the Event
The festival featured an exhibition showcasing local handicrafts, traditional cuisines, and folk performances, promoting Jammu and Kashmir’s diverse cultural heritage. A separate exhibit displayed the technological advancements of the Indian Armed Forces, inspiring youth to consider a career in defense services.

A documentary film was screened at the event, and a book titled ‘Abhinandan Granth,’ edited by Mahant Rohit Shastri and based on the life of LG Manoj Sinha, was released.

Prominent personalities from various fields were felicitated for their contributions to society.

Dignitaries in Attendance
The event was attended by Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu; MLA Sham Lal Sharma; Commissioner Secretary of Social Welfare Sanjeev Verma; Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish & Vedic Sansthan Trust; senior officials; religious leaders; and a large number of attendees.

The festival served as a platform to reinforce the commitment towards cultural preservation, religious unity, and social harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.
