Udhampur, May 5: The arrangements for the upcoming 3-day historic Annual Shiv-Parvati Shrine Mela at Moungri, scheduled to commence from May 15, 2026, were reviewed in a meeting held here today.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, chaired the meeting which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan, Additional SP Sandeep Bhat, along with other district officers and representatives of the shrine management committee.
Threadbare discussions were held on key arrangements required for the smooth conduct of the mela, including road maintenance, security deployment, sanitation, healthcare services, transport facilities, drinking water, and uninterrupted power supply.
The meeting also decided to constitute teams to monitor overpricing and quality of food items, oversee ration supply, and prepare a calendar of cultural and sports activities during the event.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to ensure timely completion of arrangements well in advance to avoid any inconvenience to devotees. The Power Development Department was instructed to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the mela.
Executive Engineers of PMGSY and PWD were directed to complete road repair works and fill potholes on the route leading to the mela site at the earliest.
District Police was asked to deploy adequate security personnel during the mela days, while the ARTO was directed to ensure sufficient transport facilities by deploying buses from various locations.
The Chief Medical Officer was instructed to deploy medical teams and ambulances for emergency response and first aid services during the event.
The Youth Services and Sports Department was asked to organize cultural and sports activities in coordination with the Education Department.
It was also decided that various government departments would set up stalls at the venue to showcase and create awareness about flagship government schemes among the public.
