Doda, May 5: An awareness programme on the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 (COTPA) was organized today at Mini Secretariat, Durganagar-Doda to promote a tobacco-free environment and enhance public awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption.
The programme was organized by LADC Advocate Tahir Hussain Dar and Advocate Abhi Kumar, along with Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) Paramveer Manhas and Suriya Begum.
Speakers on the occasion educated participants about the adverse health impacts of tobacco use and highlighted key provisions of the COTPA Act. They elaborated on the prohibition of smoking in public places, restrictions on the sale of tobacco products near educational institutions, and penalties prescribed for violations.
Participants were encouraged to actively contribute towards building a tobacco-free society and to spread awareness within their respective communities.
The programme aimed at strengthening legal awareness among the public and promoting a healthier, tobacco-free environment in the district.
