Iran Urges Youth to Guard Power Plants, Saudi Shuts Key Bridge as Donald Trump Deadline Nears

Missile strikes heighten tensions; Saudi shuts Bahrain link as global oil supply fears rise and deadline looms

Dubai, Apr 07: Saudi Arabia on Tuesday closed the only road link to Bahrain after Iran launched missile strikes targeting its oil-rich Eastern Province, officials said.

The escalation came as Iranian authorities urged youths to form human chains around power plants to safeguard critical infrastructure, amid a looming deadline set by US President Donald Trump for Tehran to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

Trump warned of severe consequences if the deadline is not met, saying the country’s infrastructure could be targeted.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia shut the King Fahd Causeway, the only road connection between the two nations, citing security concerns over potential further attacks.

Reports said Iranian missiles were intercepted over Saudi territory, with debris falling near energy facilities. Authorities are assessing possible damage.

The situation has further heightened regional tensions, with continued exchanges of fire involving Iran and Israel, and growing concerns over disruptions to global oil supply, as a significant portion of the world’s oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz.

International leaders have also raised alarm over threats to civilian infrastructure, warning of serious legal and humanitarian implications if such actions are carried out. (Agency)
