The Food Safety Department in Srinagar seized five quintals of Namkeen snacks and sealed an unlicensed manufacturing unit during an inspection at Abhanshah, HMT Srinagar.
According to reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS), the inspection team, led by the Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety Srinagar, found the unit operating under unhygienic conditions and without a valid license. The seized stock included various Namkeen items such as katlam and finni.
Samples from the confiscated products have been sent for laboratory analysis. The unit has been sealed, and its manufacturing operations are now prohibited. A formal complaint under the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, 2006, along with the associated Rules and Regulations, 2011, will be filed in court soon. (Agencies)
