J&K Government Approves ₹14.99 Crore for Landslide Mitigation Projects in Four Districts

The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved projects worth ₹14.99 crore for landslide risk mitigation across Doda, Ramban, Kathua, and Kishtwar districts under the Landslide Risk Mitigation Programme (LRMP).

The approval, granted by the Chief Minister, was issued through Government Order DMRRR/ER/271/2025 dated November 18, 2025, by the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR). The projects target chronic landslide-prone sites and will be executed following District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) norms.

In Doda, ₹1.30 crore has been allocated for stabilizing a slip on the DTL road (Km 2nd RD 550–650), including crated walls, steel wire grids, meso geo-composite, and restoration of retaining structures. An additional ₹30 lakh has been approved for Disaster Risk Management (DRM) works, including check dams, plantation, and slope strengthening.

Ramban district will see two major projects: ₹4.9998 crore for mitigation works along Ashri Nallah from Shiv Mandir to Bus Stand Ramban, and ₹4.9995 crore for slope stabilization from old NH to the proposed ITI site at Sunari Mohalla.

In Kathua, ₹2.2863 crore has been sanctioned for stabilization works in Ward No. 6 of Basohli, while Kishtwar will receive ₹1.11 crore for slope protection, including retaining walls, breast walls, culverts, and drainage.

The total sanctioned amount stands at ₹14.9957 crore. DDMAs of the respective districts have been directed to issue administrative approvals and forward copies to DMRRR for the release of funds. The order was issued by Gias ul Haq, Additional Secretary, Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

These projects are expected to significantly reduce landslide vulnerability and improve safety for populations living in hazard-prone areas.
