Govt Announces Free Entry to SPS Museum Srinagar and Dogra Art Museum Jammu for World Heritage Day

Srinagar, April 16:
The Department of Archives, Archaeology & Museums, in collaboration with the district administration, Tourism, and Education departments, will celebrate World Heritage Day on April 18, 2025, across both divisions of Jammu and Kashmir.

In Kashmir division, the celebration will begin with an early morning cleanliness drive at Hari Parbat Fort, Srinagar, followed by a heritage pledge and walk. Similarly, in Jammu division, the event will kick off with a cleanliness drive at Samba Fort in Samba District, followed by a pledge to preserve cultural heritage and a heritage walk.

In a bid to make the day accessible to all, the department has announced free entry to the SPS Museum in Srinagar and the Dogra Art Museum in Jammu. This initiative aims to provide people from all walks of life an opportunity to explore the region’s rich cultural heritage and historical landmarks.

Additionally, the Department of Archives, Archaeology & Museums will host a day-long archival exhibition at the Archival Repository in Jammu and at the Art Gallery Museum in the Old Assembly Complex, Srinagar. These exhibitions will offer visitors a closer look at the historical monuments of Jammu and Kashmir.

The department has urged the public to actively participate in the World Heritage Day celebrations, visit the exhibitions, and take advantage of the free entry to the museums.
