Shikara Capsizes in Dal Lake; Four Family Members Rescued Safely

A major tragedy was averted on Wednesday after four members of a family were rescued safely following a boat capsizing incident in the interiors of Dal Lake, officials said.
According to officials, the family was onboard a Shikara when the boat overturned, causing all four individuals to fall into the lake. The incident occurred in the afternoon.
Swift action by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Quick Response Teams ensured the timely rescue of all four family members. “All of them were safely pulled out of the water and are in good health,” the official confirmed.
The head of the family has been identified as Shwetang Murkya. The capsized Shikara has since been handed over to the authorities.
Preliminary findings suggest that the group was playfully shaking the boat, which may have led to the incident. Officials added that an investigation into the matter has been initiated.
