Udhampur, July 7:* Demonstrating a proactive and field-oriented approach to security management, DIG Udhampur-Katra-Reasi Range *Shiv Kumar (IPS)* carried out an extensive review of security arrangements along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and key Amarnath Yatra locations to ensure a safe and peaceful pilgrimage.

The inspection was conducted along with SSP Udhampur *Amritpal Singh (IPS), ASP Udhampur **Sandeep Bhat, DySP Headquarters **Parhlad*, the Commandant of CRPF, DySP Traffic Udhampur and other senior officers.
The senior officers inspected security deployments at NH-44, lateral roads, lodgement centres, langar points and other vulnerable locations from Saloora, Tikri, Phalata, Gole Mela Jakhaini and Samroli up to the Chenani Tunnel. The review focused on strengthening the overall security grid and assessing operational readiness across the route.
During the visit, DIG Shiv Kumar interacted with police personnel and officers deployed at various locations, appreciating their dedication and commitment while directing them to maintain the highest standards of vigilance. He instructed field formations to intensify checking, area domination and regular patrolling, ensuring no lapse in security.
The DIG emphasized real-time updates to the Police Control Room (PCR) and Joint Police Control Room (JPCR), while directing officers to maintain seamless coordination with the Army, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, SSB and the Special Operations Group (SOG). He also ordered close surveillance of anti-social and anti-national elements to effectively counter any potential security threat.
Officials said the inspection highlighted the leadership’s emphasis on constant ground-level monitoring, swift response mechanisms and coordinated action among all security agencies. The visit reflected DIG Shiv Kumar’s commitment to personally overseeing security preparedness and ensuring that every aspect of the pilgrimage route remains secure.
Appealing to the public, DIG Shiv Kumar urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious person, object or movement to the nearest police station or security agency. He said timely public cooperation is essential for maintaining peace and strengthening the collective security framework during the Yatra.
