Srinagar, May 5: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting with KPDCL engineers, bank representatives, and empanelled vendors to assess the progress under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana for the financial year 2025–26 in the district.
The meeting was held at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex and was attended by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Executive Engineers of KPDCL, Zonal Head J&K Bank, Lead District Manager of banks, empanelled scheme vendors, and other officials.
The Deputy Commissioner, who is also Chairman of the Monitoring and Management Committee for the scheme, conducted a detailed review of performance across all four electrical divisions of Srinagar. The review focused on applications received, targets achieved, and installations completed during 2025–26.
It was informed that more than 5,300 rooftop solar installations have already been completed across Srinagar district under the scheme.
Emphasizing the need to further accelerate implementation, the DC directed all stakeholders to work in close coordination to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are covered within the stipulated timelines. He instructed banks to expedite clearance of pending approved applications and ensure timely loan disbursement to facilitate faster installation of rooftop solar systems.
He further directed KPDCL engineers to ensure consistent progress and timely delivery of benefits to consumers, while promoting renewable energy adoption and reducing electricity costs for households.
Highlighting the importance of public awareness, the Deputy Commissioner called for intensified outreach efforts to increase participation under the scheme. He also underscored the benefits of rooftop solar installations, including reduced electricity bills, promotion of clean energy, and environmental sustainability.
