Srinagar, May 5: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Monday chaired a meeting with engineers of JAKEDA and KPDCL at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the progress and current status of solarization of government buildings across the district.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed appraisal of ongoing works aimed at reducing dependence on conventional power sources, promoting clean energy generation, and minimizing electricity expenditure of government establishments.
The meeting was informed that out of 917 identified government buildings for rooftop solar installation, 602 buildings have been covered so far, while work on the remaining buildings is currently underway.
The DC was also briefed on the status of smart meter installation in government buildings across Srinagar district.
While reviewing the progress, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of execution and directed concerned agencies to ensure timely completion of all pending works within the stipulated timeframe.
During the meeting, the District Statistics and Evaluation Officer apprised the DC regarding the physical verification status of solarized government buildings carried out so far.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, IAS Probationer Alfred Thomas, District Statistics and Evaluation Officer Shah Ismail Bangroo, engineers from KPDCL and JAKEDA, and other concerned officers.
