JAMMU, MAY 07: A comprehensive awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was organised today in the Main Market Pargwal under the leadership of Tehsildar Pargwal Manjeet Singh with the objective of sensitising the public against the growing menace of drug abuse.
The awareness drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from auto drivers, matador drivers, shopkeepers, shoppers and members of the local public, reflecting strong community support for the mission of building a drug-free society. Ram Saroop Sharma also joined the programme.
PSI Deepak Choudhary, Chowki Officer Pargwal, addressed the gathering and highlighted the role of law enforcement agencies in curbing drug-related activities.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police and administration in identifying and reporting suspicious activities related to narcotics and substance abuse.
During the programme, awareness sessions were conducted to highlight the serious social, economic and health-related consequences of substance abuse, particularly among the youth.
IEC material carrying messages on drug prevention and awareness was widely distributed among shopkeepers, transport operators, commuters and the general public in the market area.
A pledge ceremony was also organised during which participants vowed to remain vigilant against drug abuse, motivate others to stay away from narcotics and actively contribute towards the success of the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.
Addressing the gathering, Manjeet Singh emphasized that sustained public awareness and active citizen participation are essential to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.
He appealed to all sections of society, especially the youth, to adopt a healthy lifestyle and work collectively for a safer and progressive future.
The programme concluded with a strong public resolve to continue supporting awareness initiatives aimed at making the region drug-free and socially secure.
