Central University of Kashmir Reaffirms Zero Tolerance to Sexual Harassment, Lists Complaint Channels

Ganderbal, October 3: The Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment and outlined the mechanisms available for students, scholars, employees, visitors and trainees to report complaints.

The university said complaints can be submitted to any member of its Internal Committee (IC) personally, by telephone, email or letter. Complaints may also be submitted directly to the IC office or through the designated email channel. The university has stated that the identity of complainants and details of complaints will be kept confidential and handled under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013.

CUKashmir has also listed Women Helpline 181 and Emergency Response Support System 112 for assistance. Complaints can additionally be registered through the SHe-Box portal of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Anonymous complaints, however, will not be entertained by the Internal Committee.

The university’s latest notice comes amid renewed attention to its sexual-harassment complaint mechanisms. Its official website lists a notice titled “Prevention of Sexual Harrassment in CUKashmir” dated October 1, 2026.
