Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, on Monday stated that thorough security arrangements have been implemented to ensure the Independence Day celebrations proceed smoothly and safely.
Speaking to reporters during a Tiranga Rally in Baramulla town, the DC said Baramulla Police have taken extensive measures ahead of the event.
“All necessary arrangements, including the deployment of security forces as needed, have been made by SSP Baramulla,” he said.
The main Independence Day celebration will take place at Prof. Showkat Ali Stadium, Khoja Bagh, Baramulla.
Speaking about Monday’s Tiranga Rally—from the town center to the stadium—the DC said around 12,000 students from various schools, along with local residents, participated, carrying a 2.5-kilometre-long national flag.
“We plan to continue such events in the coming days and will organise similar rallies at the Tehsil level as well,” Sherpa added, noting that the district administration has secured enough national flags to ensure every household has a Tricolour before August 15.
“I urge everyone to participate in large numbers at the Independence Day function at Prof. Showkat Ali Stadium,” he said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh, stated that Independence Day functions will be held at 147 venues, including sub-division headquarters and schools, with the main event at Khoja Bagh.
“All security measures are in place to ensure smooth proceedings at every venue,” he said, adding that three to four Tiranga Rallies are being held daily leading up to August 15.
He also confirmed that the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) remains normal, with arrangements ready to handle any possible developments. (Agencies)
