The case, registered under FIR No. 20/2026 at Police Station Dachhan, involves provisions of the POCSO Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Acting on information about the alleged pregnancy termination, a police team led by SDPO Dachhan Nitish Sharma and SHO Suresh Goutam traced the minor in a reportedly critical condition due to severe blood loss. She was immediately shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar and subsequently referred to GMC Doda before being transferred to Jammu for specialised treatment.

According to sources, police also coordinated the arrangement of four units of B-negative blood, reportedly playing a crucial role in saving the girl’s life. She remained hospitalised for approximately two weeks before being discharged.

Following her recovery, the minor’s statement was recorded, during which she allegedly identified Shabir Ahmed Magrey as the person responsible for her pregnancy and for facilitating its termination.

The victim reportedly stated that she had been administered an unidentified injection at a local medical shop, after which she experienced severe abdominal pain. Police have summoned the medical assistant associated with the shop for questioning to determine the circumstances surrounding the injection and any possible involvement in the alleged offence.

The timely intervention by Kishtwar Police, particularly SDPO Nitish Sharma and SHO Suresh Goutam, has drawn appreciation for prioritising the minor’s safety, arranging urgent medical assistance and pursuing the investigation.

Investigators are now examining the sequence of events, the alleged role of the medical assistant and the possible involvement of additional individuals.

The accused remains in police custody as the investigation continues. The allegations have yet to be established before a court.
