21-Year-Old Pharmacy Student Arrested in POCSO, IT Act Case; Multiple Serious Charges Invoked

Jammu, May 24, 2026: A 21-year-old youth identified as Toufeeq Umar Lone, son of Zakir Ahmed Lone and a resident of Darangi Sarthal, has been arrested in connection with a case registered under various provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Information Technology Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), police sources said.

According to information available, the accused is a student pursuing BA Pharmacy in Punjab. A case has been registered through FIR No. 113 under Sections 3/4 and 11/12 of the POCSO Act, Section 67B of the Information Technology Act, and Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have taken the accused into custody and further investigation into the matter is underway.

Police sources said that the action was carried out by a team led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar, Firdous Ahmed, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Dr. Ishan Gupta. The operation was further monitored by ASP Kishtwar Pardeep Singh and conducted under the overall leadership of SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh.

The invoked sections deal with serious allegations related to offences against minors and online child exploitation. Under the POCSO Act, Sections 3 and 4 relate to penetrative sexual assault and punishment thereof, while Sections 11 and 12 pertain to sexual harassment of a child and punishment for such acts. The law is designed to protect individuals below 18 years of age from sexual offences and exploitation.

Section 67B of the Information Technology Act deals with offences involving publishing, transmitting, creating, collecting, browsing, or facilitating sexually explicit material involving children through electronic means and carries stringent penalties upon conviction.

Meanwhile, Section 351(2) of BNS pertains to allegations linked to criminal intimidation in aggravated circumstances.

Authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the nature of the allegations or the circumstances leading to the registration of the FIR. Officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and evidence is being examined.
