Kishtwar, May 23, 2026: Continuing its sustained drive against drug abuse under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a patrolling police party of Police Station Kishtwar headed by PSI Danish Qaiser Gazali apprehended two persons who allegedly acted suspiciously upon noticing the police party during routine patrolling on May 23.
During the search of a polythene bag carried by them, police recovered a substantial quantity of suspected intoxicant medicines, including Tapentadol Hydrochloride Tablets 100 mg amounting to 25 boxes containing 100 tablets each, Entol (Tapentadol Hydrochloride Tablets) comprising five boxes with 100 tablets each, and Pregabalin Capsules 300 mg consisting of two boxes containing 18 strips.
During questioning, the accused identified themselves as Adnan Ali, son of Amjad Ali Mir, resident of Malipeth, Kishtwar, and Mohsin Sarwar, son of Sajad Hussain Mir, resident of Lanyal, Kishtwar.
Police stated that both individuals failed to produce any valid documents, prescriptions or authorization regarding possession of the recovered medicines. Preliminary inquiry suggests that the accused were allegedly carrying these medicines for sale among drug addicts for personal monetary gain.
The recovered medicines were seized on the spot and the matter was entered into the daily diary of Police Station Kishtwar for further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Drugs and Cosmetics Department has also been informed about the recoveries, and the concerned Drugs Inspector has been apprised of the matter for examination and for initiating further necessary action under the relevant provisions of law.
