Kishtwar, June 11: MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar has welcomed the accord of Administrative Approval amounting to ₹2.47 crore for the revival and restoration of the historic Raghunath Ji Temple, Kishtwar, by the Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Jammu & Kashmir.
Terming the approval a significant step towards preserving Kishtwar’s rich cultural, religious and architectural heritage, Shagun Parihar said the restoration of the centuries-old temple will help conserve an important heritage structure while promoting religious tourism and highlighting the region’s glorious historical legacy.
Expressing gratitude to the government and the concerned department for sanctioning the project, the MLA congratulated the people of Kishtwar on the fulfillment of a long-pending demand. She stated that the restoration of Raghunath Ji Temple would strengthen the cultural identity of the region and preserve its heritage for future generations.
Shagun Parihar further emphasized that alongside infrastructure and developmental initiatives, the preservation of historical and religious landmarks remains equally important. She expressed hope that the restoration work would be undertaken and completed in a time-bound manner while maintaining the temple’s original architectural and heritage character.
Meanwhile, local residents, devotees and members of civil society have welcomed the approval and credited the MLA’s sustained efforts in securing the project. They described the decision as a historic milestone for Kishtwar and expressed confidence that the revival of the revered shrine would further enhance the district’s spiritual, cultural and tourism potential.
