According to reports, Uday Bhanu Chib was arrested by Delhi Police outside the office of the Indian Youth Congress in the national capital following a protest staged by party workers during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam. The protest, which reportedly involved sloganeering and display of messages critical of the government, led to police intervention on grounds of security and law and order concerns. Authorities have alleged that Chib played a key role in organising the demonstration.

In a statement issued today, Anas Mujtaba Munshi termed the arrest as a direct attack on democratic rights and an attempt to suppress the voice of the youth. He said that in a vibrant democracy, protest is not a crime but a fundamental right guaranteed under the Constitution of India.

“You can arrest a man, but you cannot arrest a movement. The detention of our national president and dedicated workers reflects a blatant misuse of power. Such actions only strengthen our resolve and commitment towards safeguarding democratic values,” he stated.

He further added that the Indian Youth Congress will continue to stand firm against injustice and intimidation. “The fight for truth, justice, and the rights of the people has just begun. No force can silence the collective voice of the youth,” he asserted.
