Kishtwar/Doda June 8, 2026: In a significant development in Doda Police’s ongoing war against drugs, the wife of jailed drug peddler Yasir Ahmed Shah alias “Thopa” was arrested on Monday with approximately 32 grams of heroin (Chitta)-like substance in the Sadeqabad area of Doda district, further exposing the alleged narcotics network operating from the locality.
The accused woman, identified as Gulshan Begum, wife of Yasir Ahmed Shah alias Thopa, was apprehended during a raid conducted by Police Station Doda following specific intelligence inputs regarding the sale of narcotic substances.
Police said a team led by the SHO Police Station Doda, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Doda, carried out the operation at Sadeqabad and recovered approximately 32 grams of heroin-like substance from her possession.
A case under FIR No. 150/2026 has been registered at Police Station Doda under Sections 08/21/22 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify other links in the drug supply chain.
The arrest assumes greater significance as the accused’s husband, Yasir Ahmed Shah alias “Thopa”, is already lodged in jail in connection with a major NDPS case. Last month, Doda Police attached property worth nearly ₹13 lakh belonging to Yasir Shah under the provisions of the NDPS Act after investigators concluded that the assets had allegedly been acquired through proceeds generated from narcotics trafficking.
Yasir Shah, a resident of Sadeqabad, is accused in FIR No. 86/2026 registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. Police had described him as a notorious drug peddler and attached his property under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act as part of efforts to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting the narcotics trade.
With the latest arrest, investigators are examining whether the drug trafficking network continued to operate despite the incarceration of its alleged kingpin. Sources said police are probing possible forward and backward linkages and are not ruling out the involvement of additional persons connected to the racket.
The successive actions against both the alleged drug peddler and now his wife are being viewed as a major breakthrough in Doda Police’s intensified anti-narcotics campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.
Senior police officials reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, stating that individuals involved in the narcotics trade would face not only arrest and prosecution but also attachment and confiscation of illegally acquired assets.
Doda Police has appealed to the public to continue sharing information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
