Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan arrived in Srinagar on Saturday to conduct a comprehensive review of security and logistical arrangements ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, which is scheduled to begin on July 3.

During his visit, Mohan chaired a high-level meeting attended by senior officials from the Jammu and Kashmir administration, Police, Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and intelligence agencies to assess the overall security preparedness along both the Pahalgam and Baltal pilgrimage routes.

The review comes as security forces have intensified area domination exercises, route sanitisation, and counter-terror surveillance across the Kashmir Valley, particularly in districts linked to the annual pilgrimage.

According to official sources, the meeting focused on deployment strategies, convoy security, intelligence coordination, emergency response systems, disaster management preparedness, and arrangements at transit and base camps for pilgrims.

In recent weeks, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, SDRF, and other agencies have carried out multiple security audits, mock drills, and joint exercises to ensure seamless coordination during the Yatra.

The Union Home Secretary also reviewed infrastructure and pilgrim facilitation measures, including healthcare services, transportation, communication facilities, and rescue preparedness to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.
