Special Crime Wing, Jammu Booked one for Fraud and Cheating

Special Crime Wing (SCW), Crime Branch Jammu has registered a case under Section 420 IPC in connection with a fraud involving false assurances of arranging overseas employment.

A written complaint was lodged by a complainant , alleging that the accused, Bhupinder Kumar S/o Mangat Ram R/o Kir Pind, Tehsil R.S. Pura, District Jammu, had approached him approximately two years ago with assurances of facilitating employment abroad for his son.

As per the complaint, the accused initially initiated the process for sending the complainant’s son to Italy; however, the application was rejected by the Italian authorities. Subsequently, the accused assured to arrange employment in the United Kingdom, but that attempt also failed after objections were raised by UK authorities. Despite repeated requests, the accused allegedly failed to refund the money.

The complainant further stated that he had arranged funds through relatives and paid a total amount of approximately ₹9,08,000/- to the accused, including ₹8,23,000/- through online transactions and ₹85,000/- in cash. Out of this, only ₹40,000/- has been refunded so far.

On receipt of the complaint, a preliminary verification was conducted, which revealed that the accused had, from the very inception, acted with fraudulent intent and dishonestly induced the complainant to part with his money by misrepresentation and deceit.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 10/2026 under Section 420 IPC has been registered at Police Station Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu, and investigation has been entrusted to Dy.SP Deepak Jasrotia. 

Further investigation is underway.
