Jammu, February 14, 2026:In a significant success on the anti-drug trafficking front, Jammu Police, in a joint operation with the 165 Battalion of the Border Security Force, recovered approximately 6.582 kilograms of heroin worth around ₹40 crore in the international market from the R S Pura sector of district Jammu, near the International Border.
Acting on specific inputs from the 165 Bn BSF regarding suspicious drone activity along the International Border, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Jammu Police and BSF during the intervening night of February 13/14, 2026, at Nai Basti Karotana in the Baspur area of R S Pura.
During the search operation at first light, two yellow-coloured packets containing a heroin-like substance were recovered from wheat fields at Nai Basti Karotana. The area is located close to the International Border, and the consignment is suspected to have been drone-dropped from across the border into Indian territory.
A recovery memo was prepared on the spot in the presence of a Magistrate. Upon preliminary examination, the recovered packets were found to contain approximately 6.582 kg of heroin-like substance, with an estimated international market value of ₹40 crore.
In this connection, FIR No. 36/2026 has been registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station R S Pura. The investigation is being conducted by SHO Police Station R S Pura, Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar, assisted by Incharge BPP Baspur, SI Ranbir Singh, under the supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact source and intended destination of the recovered contraband. Police are thoroughly examining both backward and forward linkages in the case, and more breakthroughs are expected.
Jammu Police has urged citizens, particularly those residing near the International Border, to share any information related to illegal drug activities in their localities. With continued public cooperation, sustained efforts are being made to build a drug-free and crime-free society.
