Jammu/Kishtwar, April 25, 2026:
Taking strict action in connection with a narcotics-related case, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar has suspended the Registration Certificate (RC) and Route Permit of a vehicle allegedly involved in an NDPS case.
The action has been taken on the recommendation of District Police Kishtwar in connection with FIR No. 091/2026, registered at Police Station Kishtwar under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act.
The vehicle bearing registration number JK17A-1218 (LPV) is registered in the name of Mohd Shafi S/o Ghulam Qadir, resident of Pakalan Thakrie, District Kishtwar. The said vehicle has also been blacklisted, restricting its use and movement.
As per the official order issued vide No. ARTO/Ktr/2026-27/585-90 dated 25-04-2026, the suspension has been carried out under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, citing involvement in a criminal case along with additional violations, including expired permit and insurance, and non-payment of Motor Vehicle tax.
The registered owner has been directed to surrender the RC and Route Permit immediately to the ARTO office.
The move reflects the administration’s continued crackdown on misuse of vehicles in illegal activities, particularly under the ongoing anti-drug drive in the district.
