SMC Commissioner reviews multi-department preparedness for Parliamentary Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs visit to J&K.

Faz Lul Haseeb on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting in Srinagar to assess preparedness for the forthcoming visit of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs to Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled from May 10 to May 12.

The meeting focused on detailed arrangements including protocol management, transportation, accommodation, venue readiness, security coordination and inter-departmental convergence to ensure smooth conduct of the high-level visit.

Officials said the visit is part of the Parliamentary Standing Committee’s 2025–26 study programme aimed at reviewing key aspects of housing, urban governance, infrastructure development and implementation of flagship urban schemes across the country.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of seamless coordination among all departments and directed officers to ensure that every arrangement is completed in a timely and professional manner.

He said the visit holds significant importance in the context of ongoing urban development and housing initiatives in the Union Territory and requires meticulous planning and execution.

During the meeting, designated liaison officers were briefed about their specific roles and responsibilities. They were directed to remain alert and responsive throughout the visit to ensure smooth movement and effective engagement of the visiting delegation.

The Commissioner stressed that all arrangements must be handled with utmost efficiency to project the preparedness of urban governance systems in Jammu and Kashmir.
