Six Firefighters Injured in Major Blaze at Bemina’s Gousia Colony

SRINAGAR, April 18 — A massive fire erupted on Friday evening in Gousia Colony, Bemina, prompting a swift and large-scale response from the Fire and Emergency Services Department.

Officials reported that the fire call was received at 7:19 PM, and the first response unit was mobilized within a minute. A total of nine fire tenders from various fire stations across Srinagar, including Fire Headquarters Bemina, Veer Chatabal, Safa Kadal, Syed Hameed Pora, and Rawalpora, were dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters worked under hazardous and challenging conditions to bring the blaze under control. During the operation, six personnel, including a senior officer, sustained injuries.

The injured have been identified as Divisional Fire Officer Zorawar Singh (Fire Headquarters), Fireman Ishfaq Ahmad, Fireman Waseem Ahmad Ganaie, Fireman Bashir Ahmad Ahangar, Fireman Javaid Baba, and Fireman Sahil.

All injured personnel received immediate medical attention, officials confirmed. The fire has since been brought under control, and cooling operations are currently underway.

Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire and evaluate the damage to property.
