KYIV, Sept. 22, 2026 — Russia launched a major overnight barrage of missiles and drones across Ukraine, striking oil, gas and industrial facilities and killing at least four people, Ukrainian officials said Tuesday.
The attacks hit several regions, including Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk and Chernihiv. Ukraine’s state energy company Naftogaz said at least five ballistic missiles struck technological facilities at an oil and gas site in the Poltava region, causing what it described as critical damage.
Industrial facilities in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad were also targeted. A strike on a facility belonging to Interpipe in Dnipro killed four people and wounded seven, according to the company. Ukraine’s Air Force said the barrage included ballistic and anti-ship missiles, cruise missiles and 212 drones.
In northern Ukraine, an attack on an energy facility in the Chernihiv region disrupted electricity supplies to nearly 100,000 consumers. Russian authorities said their forces targeted fuel, energy and industrial infrastructure, while Ukrainian officials reported extensive damage to economic facilities.
The strikes came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was in New York for the UN General Assembly, where he was scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump and discuss efforts to halt attacks on energy infrastructure.
