The Regional Transport Office (RTO), Kashmir has issued a rare public advisory asking citizens to avoid visiting its offices unless absolutely necessary due to the ongoing spell of extreme heat across the Valley.
The department has urged people to submit their service requests and grievances through WhatsApp, assuring that issues will be addressed within 48 hours, wherever possible.
The advisory, which is widely circulating on social media, has been welcomed by many citizens, who described it as a timely and people-friendly initiative during the prevailing hot weather.
Although temperatures have risen sharply across Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir government has not yet officially declared a heatwave or announced any changes in working hours for schools or government offices.
Meanwhile, concerns continue to grow over schoolchildren travelling in the afternoon heat, with parents and doctors calling for a summer break. Many schools reportedly lack adequate fans and drinking water facilities, raising concerns about the health and safety of students during the ongoing hot weather.(Agencies)
