SRINAGAR, MAY 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council today congratulated young boxing talent Mohammad Yasser of Rajouri for winning a Gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championship held in Uzbekistan, calling it a historic achievement for Jammu and Kashmir and a proud moment for the nation.

The Council stated that Yasser’s success reflects the growing sporting transformation in Jammu and Kashmir under the focus on youth empowerment and sports development, with increased emphasis on grassroots training and modern infrastructure.

Hailing from Rajouri district and trained at the Khelo India Centre Rajouri, Mohammad Yasser showcased exceptional determination and resilience despite financial hardships, steadily progressing through international competition to achieve the top honour.

During the championship, Yasser delivered outstanding performances, defeating strong opponents from Kazakhstan and Iran before reaching the final and clinching the Gold medal for India at the prestigious continental event.
