Srinagar, May 2: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday visited Shalina near Lasjan to inspect the flood breach site that had developed during the devastating floods in September last year.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Pampore Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi, and other senior officials during the inspection.
Reviewing the ongoing repair and restoration works, the Chief Minister directed concerned departments to ensure that embankments are strengthened effectively to prevent recurrence of such breaches in the future.
Emphasising the need for durable and sustainable solutions, Omar Abdullah instructed officials to expedite the restoration process and complete permanent works at the earliest.
He also stressed the importance of implementing robust flood management strategies to safeguard vulnerable areas and protect critical public infrastructure from future disasters.(Agencies)
